About the Artist

Ben Jelfs is an Adelaide-based oil painter whose expressive figurative works explore identity and character.

Drawing on over twelve years of experience as a professional illustrator and storyboard artist, his paintings combine clever compositions and bold brush marks that really speak to their audience.

His self portrait 'Fragile Thoughts' received a finalist at the One Gallery Smallacombe 2026 Portrait Prize and he has been awarded the Illustrators Australia Gold Award for children’s book illustration.
